Winter Wonders

Winter beckons with snowflakes

blowing in the breeze

they cover the rooftops

with white coats

for winter wonders

Can you see the stars above

on a cold wintry night

then see the shining star

that leads to the babe

wrapped in swaddling clothes

Snowmen and snowball fights

children in woolly hats

the snow covered pine trees

and soft snowy roads

it’s Christmas very soon

Why look at a dim winter

when there are cosy nights

and shortened days

and Christmas lights

to cheer us on

Seasons of Life

Why do we have seasons

of sunny weather and white winters

Autumn of hope

And the birth of Spring

Can we overlook autumn

Cos it causes Fall

Wait a while

Before the fall of leaves

There is the riot of colour

Green to red and rust

who could imagine that

Uniform green could change

To such diverse colours

Life changes with years

Newness of life to mellowness of age

Is it all about the bold and beautiful

And what about wisdom of the wise

Discovery of talents

coffee chats and creativity

Time for tennis and golf with friends

To follow football and cricket

and critical comments thereafter

Cherish quiet times with loved ones

Specially with the Master of all

Who we return to

at the end of all seasons

Rays of Light

Malachi 4:1-3

But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will shine out with healing in its rays ; you will leap like calves going out to pasture

You O Lord Renew us

With rays of righteousness ;

Each morn a reminder ,

that light overcomes the dark

When the sun comes streaming in ,

it brings light and warmth

but your Son true light of life ,

brings joy and restores

Renew us O Lord,

with rays of love and mercy

And bring healing in it’s wake

As we wait on you

Thank you Lord,

Is my prayer today,

remaining ever faithful

to you the Holy One

I am free

Lord , you set me free
When you showed me
the cross
to be a victory
and not a loss

I see with new sight
Your creation
with it’s touch of the beauty
of a flower in bloom
and a bird in flight .

Birds and flowers
pass away
From where do they come
And where do they go
I know

To you ,the One
Who gives us life
Forgives and redeems
Who cares and loves
you and me

So ,I give you thanks
I give you praise,
You give me peace
When you hold me
I am free

The Shepherd( Adapted from Psalm 23)

Have you met the shepherd

Pray what does he do

when caring for sheep

With staff in hand

he guards and guides

At night or day

to green pastures

and fresh river waters .

He carries the sick

Binds their wounds

Looks for the stray

to return to the fold

By night to watch

the sheep in the pen

with staff to guard

from lurking danger

Pray , who is the Shepherd

who cares so well

not only sheep

but you and me

He is the Eternal One

who is the sheep gate

he guards my going out

and coming in

Have you listened

when He calls

Do you know his voice

You can trust in him

His love is eternal

Time to think

Let us wake in the morning filled with your love

and sing and be happy all our days. (Psalm 90:14)

How soon the day passes

and how short our time

let me wake up each day

to experience your love Oh Lord.

So filled with love

I sing and rejoice

you give life

and all that is good

We are here today

and gone tomorrow

So why fret when you keep us

tranquil and quiet

Your sweetness be upon us

As we live each day

following you closely

loving you dearly

Is there room for pride

anger and hate?

Your love and grace

brings us peace

To you we return

you showed the way

homeward bound

to see your glory

The Barbets

Why dost thou look at me ?

Will I steal from thy little nest,

so well prepared,

to allow only you and yours

to feed the little ones

Yes , you do not fail

In your search for food ;

a provider in earnest .

Where do you go

And how fast you return ?

They wait with outstretched beaks

To feed on the finest you bring ,

Surely that day will arrive,

When they too fly away.

So is the circle of life ,

They will find new trees

Build new nests

To bring in new lives

To begin a fresh verse

The Crow’s Nest (A ray of hope)

A couple of crows

Preparing their home

With bare necessities ,

Branches , and anything in sight

They fly to and fro

Up and down ,

Beaks holding

A stick or two for a nest.

I see a ray of Hope as these crows

Prepare for new lives

Despite the silence of

People in lockdown mode .

Is this not a sign from the Master,

Of new life ahead?

Just as the dove held an olive branch

At the end of the great flood ?

Thank you Lord

For your love and compassion

You care for us

And your mercies are endless .

We Stand Still

Sunshine of hope ,

Birds singing

Butterflies flitting

And all at peace

Can you imagine the entire world

today stands still ;

Pray where is the hustle and bustle

of Man who had

no time for anyone

least of all to

recognise our Creator .

Does the Lord have to do this,

To send a virus ?

To draw attention

to Himself ;

from creatures who forgot their Creator ?

On our knees we pray ,

Lord have mercy

Forgive us our trespasses ;

Send us your healing touch

And give us New Life

As we live again

To love and serve you

To meet and greet

To rejoice ,

To cherish another

Family , friend or foe,

Rich or poor,

To resolve our differences

And to live in peace , where

‘The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid,

the calf and the lion and the fatling together,

and a little child shall lead them.( Isaiah 11:6)

They will not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain;

for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.(Isaiah 11:9)

As the Eagle Soars

When I look up,
The blue skies beckon me,
Amidst the bustle below,
An eagle cruises high above
Ever watchful for its prey.

Is that all I ever see?
Can it stir up its nest,
And hover over its young ;
As it spreads its wings ,
And bears them aloft ?

In you I trust O Lord ,
As you hold me,
and quieten my soul,
Me your child
Ever content not wanting more.

In the shadow of your wings
I will rejoice,
As you set me free,
To live and move
And have my being,
